"On a case-by-case basis, the use of school-purchased assistive technology devices in a child's home or in other settings is required if the child's IEP Team determines that the child needs access to those devices in order to receive FAPE." Section 300.105(b)

I have heard of districts requiring parents to sign statements that their home insurance will cover the item if it is broken or otherwise require the parent to agree to pay for replacement/repair if the child breaks it.  I would argue that such a requirement can not be imposed if the child needs the device to receive FAPE.  I am not saying the parent can't be on the hook for the cost of repair or replacement but I don't think the school can require a parent to sign an agreement as a condition to the device coming home as it would be inconsistent with federal law.

I know in our district the students bring their braille notes and or
laptops home. Many kids use them for their homework. They are provided by
the district.  I am pretty sure IDEA mentions home use. I don't have the
wording.  I am just dragging it out of my memory. Which could be wrong.
