I think this is also a good time to mention the importance of quality summer programs where the student will have Braille every day and will have the opportunity to learn from successful blind role models. In these programs, the blind/low vision student has the opportunity to participate in a lot of fun activities while learning the skills of blindness such as cane travel, Braille, Independent Living, and access technology. While in these great programs, the student lives with blind instructor/role models and learns the basics for maintaining their own apartment, cooking, cleaning, how to grocery shop, and many other things that will help the student to become confident and competent in their skills. Of course all of the activities in the programs are age appropriate. I highly recommend these programs and will be happy to share information with you about these programs.

Thanks!

This question about reading accessibility or how do I get my child reading has come up quite a bit the last couple of weeks and thought this article may be a good one for people looking for answers.
Read2go---download ebooks for your iPad or other iToolVideoon www.yourtechvision.com

*Read2Go <http://read2go.org/>* is the most accessible e-book reader app for readers with print disabilities. Directly from within the Read2Go app<http://read2go.org/>, Bookshare <http://www.bookshare.org/> members can find, download, and read books all on a single Apple device. No need to download books to computers, transfer files, or decompress files! Just download and READ! from the Read2Go website <http://read2go.org/> Read2Go Highlights

   - Browse and search Bookshare's entire collection
   - Download and automatically unzip books
   - Store books on the Read2Go bookshelf
   - Connect via blue tooth to specific braille displays to read in braille

This ereader is truly one of the easiest readers to use. Once you type in your basic information and picks your configurations, just type in the title you want and it will instantly download from the bookshare site. Go out and find other periodicals and more with this incredibly easy reader.
It will bring the world to your finger tips. Anyone with a reading disability will achieve the ability to see and hear a book and what a great way to back that up with a braille display.
