Dear Debby,
Congratulations to you and your daughter. My mother is a Stetson grad. with a degree in education. She attended in the early 50s when the 'girls' had to sign-in and out of the dorm and the dorm-mother ruled the roost.
You asked about financial aid. South Carolina Commission for the Blind pays in-state public tuition for blind and visually impaired students. The money is portable so the set amount is good at public, private or out-of-state. Many years back, my cousin received tuition and fees from the Florida Commission when he was living in Panama City, Fl and attending school. My cousin moved around a bit and found assistance in 4 southeast states. There was some variation from state-to-state but the money is through the federal vocation rehab. legislation. Listers: Please correct or add to my information.

I can't believe it either. Seems we just brought her home from Hong Kong, and that 13 years ago. Any tips on landing good scholarships? We're going to need all we can get with TWO kids heading for college in the fall!

Your guidance councilor at her high school should have many of them. If you
go to her and ask she should be able to give you several. Don't forget about
all the NFB ones too. I can't remember the name of the site, but I used a
site where they had me fill out a bunch of stuff about me, and it generated
a ton of scholarships that I qualified for.
