[blindkid] To Sign or not To Sign

I concur with Carrie.  I am the mother of five children one of whom is blind, Drake, and another has severe ADHD - inattentive type.  We live on a busy street. My kid who is in la la land unless he is on his meds, would be the one to wander in the street if something caught his eye.   My children have never been allowed to play in the front yard unless we are present.
I think the sign is unnecessary and can give a parent a false sense of security.  A child needs good O&M skills and to be taught not to wander into a street. If a child is not old enough not to do so, they need to be properly supervised.
In a couple of years, Drake will be walking two blocks down our busy street and crossing it to wait for the school bus to take him to middle school.  He is working on his O&M skills so he can independently walk to the bus stop as his sighted peers will be doing.   A sign isn't going to protect Drake.
