The consensus seems to be that each, (hard copy and refreshable Braille),
have their advantages and disadvantages. This further demonstrates the need
to be proficient in so many areas. I am totally convinced that Aubrie reads
faster on her 18 cell BN because when I am following along with her, I can
barely keep up. I was never a speed kid but I read all right and of course,
have read paper Braille mostly. She does not bat an eye at reading books
over 1000 pages. She has mentioned to me the difficulty in using the BN for
tests which require looking for passages and such. For those things, she
prefers paper Braille and has taken her national tests with Braille. As far
as diagrams and such go, for text books that depend heavily on them, science
and math, those books are Brailed and she carries a number of books home
some nights, along with her BN and even a laptop sometimes.
