[blindkid] Ipad only

hi,
I agree. as a seventh grader, I used the same tech as your son except for
the braille display. no one offered to buy me one given the built in display
on the braille note.
still would love one but its expensive.

She needs more tech, not less, and how appalling to think they would replace
a braille sense with an ipad. The only benefit is its cheaper. you will use
the efficient ease of access the braille sense has though. for one thing,
the sense supports word files, something she needs for school assignments.
The ipad will not! that is, unless you use a special MS office ap that you
have to pay for.

Fight this battle, Amber!

What grade is your daughter in ? I also don't feel like they should take
away her Braille sense!! My son is in 7th grade and I refused an IPad for
school use! He uses his Braille note, laptop with Windows/JAWS and
refreshable Braille display and/or Bluetooth his Braille note.

I still don't understand why schools are insisting on IPads for our kids. As
they get older it's really not effective for school!

Just my thoughts. My son is now fully mainstreamed in 7th grade and takes
HIgh school classes. He cannot live without his Braille note!

Thanks!
Michelle
