Hello:

With the recent posts about a child available for adoption, I thought the following newsletter would be of interest.

Regards,

Robert

Dear friends of Bethel,

Here are some news from China: It's been a busy few months here at Bethel!

This has been the summer of adoptions! We've had eight adoptions since June, and we're not finished yet. Several years ago, we didn't have much of an adoption advocacy program. Our advocacy team has been working hard to create relationships with adoption agencies in order to find loving homes for Bethel kids. Lately, we've been able to witness all the fruit of this hard work!

There are still children at Bethel who are eligible for adoption.

You can view our adoption advocacy page to see the full list of waiting children by clicking <http://list.bethelchina.org/phplist/lists/lt.php?id=Kk1XUkUHAhhTVgRZ> here, or you can email adoption at bethelchina.org <mailto:adoption at bethelchina.org> for more information.

We also have many children still available for child sponsorship. Sponsorship starts at $35 USD per month. All sponsors will receive a child profile and e-newsletters every two months. Sponsors are welcome to send packages and letters to their sponsor child. Email tabitha at bethelchina.org <mailto:tabitha at bethelchina.org> for more details. Just look how happy Finn was to get a gift from his sponsor!

With all the adoptions taking place, we have more room at our Doudian facility. For locational, staffing, and financial reasons, we have combined our Lighthouse Project with our Doudian foster home and primary school. All of the children at the Lighthouse project have moved back to their old home in Doudian. Their Bethel mammas and teachers are delighted to have them back!

With the money we save from only running one independent large foster home, we will focus on opening up new projects within existing local orphanages, similar to our Zhengzhou Project. This model is much more financially stable and creates a good relationship with the Chinese authorities. Right now we are training new caregivers and teachers to open up our next new center by Autumn 2015!

Did you know that Bethel isn't just a foster home? We think that one of the best ways to solve the orphan crisis is to prevent children from becoming orphans in the first place. Because of that, we have opened up our primary school to fifteen families of the visually impaired. We are so incredibly proud of these families and their children!

With the nice warm weather, the kids have loved swimming and hippotherapy sessions! We are always grateful for HOPE and Priscilla Lightsey for this amazing project that our kids enjoy so much.

The best way to beat the heat in Beijing is to have a water fight. We'll leave you with one last picture that we think sums up how much fun the kids are having this summer!

Talk to you in the Fall!
