Dear fellow parents and other interested folks,
Pre-registration for the NOPBC's Annual Conference closes today!
Crafting Your Diamond: The 4Cs of Bringing Up Blind Children
Sunday, July 5---Friday, July 10, 2015**
Orlando, Florida
**
Our Annual Conference offers opportunities for parents to
·Learn from the award-winning teachers and experts in technology and
cane travel, from blind adults, from blind youth, and from parents who
have "been there."
·Meet other families with blind/VI children and youth
·Get involved in advocating for educational issues facing our children
·Have your child/youth participate in fun activities, designed for them
This year's conference highlights:
Seminar Day (Sunday July 5)
·Entire day of events planned
·Workshops on hot topics such as technology; independence in school,
home, and community; tactile graphics; getting ready for college;
helping your blind baby explore the world; working toward maximum
independence and self-determination for the child with additional
disabilities.
·Special activities for blind/visually impaired children and youth
·Socialize with other families
Other days: Attend a Cane Walk session, where you and your child can
work directly with a certified cane travel instructor. Choose free,
age-appropriate books in Braille and have them shipped for free to your
home. Receive guidance on designing and implementing a good IEP.
