[blindkid] IEP

I agree with Carol in that the IEP should address how she will
participate rather than stating goals in terms of what tasks she will
do.

I do not recall having any specific statements about my science
classes. The most helpful thing in my Chemistry and Physics classes
was having a teacher (I had the same teacher for Chemistry, Physics,
and AP Chemistry) who was willing to spend time outside of the class
with me to help me understand when I needed help in class materials.
He also made sure that I participated in lab activities as much as
possible (e.g., mixing chemicals, working with the light circuit,
etc). He of course collaborated with my TVI to make sure all of the
printed materials were accessible as stated in the IEP.
In terms of specific devices, I know there are talking LabQuest
devices that may be useful. And of course low-tech devices like
tactile ruler, beakers with tactile markings, etc which I imagine you
are already familiar with.
