The monthly charge gives you a certain number of credits each month 
depending upon the plan.  I had the gold plan which gave you one credit a 
month.  So, for $14.95 a month or whatever it was, I could get one book a 
month.  If you don't use the credit every month, they build up.  The monthly 
fee is  less than the cost of most books etc.
