They have already started this in Texas. They are trying to create content
out of the public colleges instead of going to the publishers. I would
recommend caution on the qualifications of the people who write the
textbooks.
For instance readers and childrens books are laid out with certain
requirements and although they may look like anyone can make them, they are
part of a larger educational plan. Many people on the state level may try
to cut costs by writing this material themselves and thus the students loose
out on a massive scale. There is a need to keep track of the curriculum and
make sure they are not cutting corners.
