I have seen a hands-on demonstration of the Penfriend labeling device.  It
is quite impressive.  The labels are number coded which the pen recognizes.
Then a voice note is made for that label number.  The labels can be reused
for recording purposes.  

For labeling purposes such as case files, this could work quite well.
