If you're hiding behind your cane to keep form getting hit, as above,  
I recommend self defense rather than living in fear.  as I also said  
in another post, I'm not trying to avoid "looking blind," or hiding my  
blindness; hell, I used to wear a blue glass eyeball as an earring,  
and I'd joke that "It's the only eye I have that does what it's  
supposed to."  Hiding behind a white cane does no one any good.
