[blindlaw] Question for the Mailing List

Hi everyone,

I am an attorney licensed in Massachusetts since 2010. In my job
search, I often encounter positions that seem like good fits for me,
only to find out that "reliable transportation" is needed--even for
jobs that are not real estate-related. Since I can't see well enough
to drive, I feel that my job search is confined to the Boston area
where there is public transportation. I have applied to the state's
paratransit service and been turned down because legal blindness alone
does not qualify me for the service. Do any of you have any tips as to
how to overcome the transportation problem? If you have taken a legal
job outside of a major city, how have you coped with the daily commute
and any job-related travel?

Thanks,

Liz Surette
