Hello Robert,
My experience with Netflix is been quite different from yours. I primarily use an AppleTV with VoiceOver. Netflix is very accessible with that device. Also there are several gestures that make the Netflix app complicated but yet accessible on the iPhone. I have found that it is actually better on the iPad. Hope this is helpful.
