Job Description: 

One AUSA position is available in the Criminal Division in our Cheyenne
office. The successful candidate will be responsible for prosecuting a
variety of complex criminal cases, involving fraud and white collar crime,
narcotics, immigration and violent crime, among other program areas. Due to
the small number of criminal AUSAs employed in the District, each AUSA
usually handles a variety of cases and the opportunities to specialize may
be limited.

As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement.

Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment0
adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug
testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable
adjudication of a background investigation.

Qualifications: 

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree and be an
active member of the bar of any state. If the successful candidate is not a
member of the Wyoming State Bar, and is not eligible to become a member of
the Bar through reciprocity, he or she will be expected to favorably
complete the Wyoming Bar Examination at the next available opportunity.

One year of qualifying post-graduate legal experience is required.
Qualifying legal experience may include work as an attorney, a judicial law
clerk in either federal or state court, and/or litigation experience in
either the private or public sector. This position is open to all qualified
candidates from the private and public sectors.

United States citizenship is required.

You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this
announcement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to
accurately and precisely articulate the critical issues in a case.
Applicants must have superior oral and writing skills as well as strong
research and interpersonal skills, and good judgment. Applicants must
possess excellent communication skills. Applicants must exhibit the ability
to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys,
support staff, and client agencies. Applicants must also demonstrate
excellent computer literacy skills including experience with automated
research on the Internet, CM/ECF, and electronic e-mail and word processing
systems.

Salary: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively
determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney
experience. The range of basic pay is $51,403.00 to $151,660.00 which
includes locality pay. 

Travel: Occasional travel, both within and outside the District, may be
required depending on the needs of particular cases. On average, the
incumbent will need to travel 1-5 nights per month. Depending upon court
requirements in Casper or Cheyenne.
