Fellow JFW users, please take note of the below in terms of signing the We The People Petition regarding Internet Regs. It is highly ironic and fitting that there is an accessibility barrier here, relatively minor though it is. My colleague Gabe describes a solution and it worked when I used it. Please encourage everyone you know to sign this petition. After you sign it, you will get an email asking you to confirm your signature by clicking a certain link. Once you hit enter on that link, it does indeed confirm your signature. I know that this will take a minute or two or your time, but it is urgent that you invest the time to send the message to the Obama Administration.

Best,

Scott

Subject: [NFB-Legislative-Directors] A Note for JAWS Users Regarding AD A Internet Regs Petition

Howdy Fellow Federationists,

As you know, Tuesday we launched a petition <https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/direct-us-department-justice-promptly-release-ada-internet-regulations> calling on the Obama administration to promptly release the long awaited ADA internet regulations. Exemplifying the immediate need for these regulations, some JAWS users running internet explorer seem to be having a problem with the “sign” button when attempting to add their name. Here are some solutions to help mitigate that problem. Try routing JAWS to PC, and pressing the left mouse button and the “sign” button will be selected. Alternatively, you can sign the petition using another, more accessible internet browser, such as Mozilla Firefox. The petition is also accessible on iOS devices. Finally, if problems persist, you can always call me here at the national office, and I will be more than happy to facilitate your signature.

If you have tried previously and had this problem, please try again using one of these solutions. We need everyone to sign and share!

Thanks for all you do,

...Gabe

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
