I still use the now rather ancient Epson GT-1500. It is fairly easy to
configure, produces very high quality scans and can scan a 8.5 by 14 inch
page.  The scanner also has a somewhat small but serviceable document
feeder.  

I recommend going to the Kurzweil website to see what is being recommended.
