Save the Date!
2019 Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium
March 28-29, 2019

Mark your calendar to attend the Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium, "Public Attitudes and Stigma Affecting Our Right to Live in the World," at the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute on March 28-20, 2019. The symposium will feature keynote speakers, plenary sessions, and workshops. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from and network with many of the leading disability rights advocates from throughout the United States!

Request for Workshop Proposals
All interested persons are invited to submit proposals for a one-hour workshop on one or more topics of your choice. The NFB Steering Committee will review and select submissions to create an exciting, well-balanced program.

Workshop topics may fit within the broad theme of a plenary session, or they may be something entirely different. The broad plenary session topics for the 2019 symposium will be as follows:

  *   Disability Discrimination against Homeless People with Disabilities
  *   Disparate Treatment under the Law of Mental and Physical Disabilities
  *   Disability Rights and Immigrants
  *   Framing the Image of Disability in Advocacy
  *   Valuation of the Disabled Life
  *   Bullying, Harassment, and the Civil Rights of People with Disabilities

Submission Deadline: All workshop proposals are due via email to Stacie Dubnow<mailto:sdubnow at nfb.org?subject=2018%20Jacobus%20tenBroek%20Disability%20Law%20Symposium%20Workshop%20Proposal%20>, by Friday, November 2, 2018.  Individuals who submit a proposal will be notified of the NFB's decision by November 13, 2018.

How to Apply:  Email a one-page workshop proposal on or before November 2, 2018 that includes the following information:

  1.  Name of presenter(s) and organization(s)
  2.  Contact telephone number, and email address
  3.  Workshop title
  4.  Description of the workshop, including its main goals, the relevancy and timeliness of the topic/issues to be addressed, and whether you have presented the workshop before
  5.  Please attach a current CV for each presenter
