Subject: Join Us Online to Advocate as Part of ABA Day Digital

Please see the information from Holly Cook about participating in ABA Day
Digital!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone,

As a reminder, the ABA's annual advocacy event called "ABA Day 2020"
is tomorrow and Thursday, and this year it is completely online! We hope
you will join us to make sure our voices are heard in every congressional
district. You do not need to be an ABA member to participate so feel free
to forward this email to invite your entities, colleagues and friends to
join us in advocating on issues that increase access to justice for people
across the country.

With that in mind, I wanted to share some information to make this
process easy for you.

First, go to our ABA Day website
<https://www.americanbar.org/advocacy/governmental_legislative_work/grassroo
ts-action-center/ABA_Day_Digital/> at ambar.org/abadaydigital to find a
schedule of events for the next two days.

Under the schedule, you will see information about each of the four
main issues on which we are advocating: funding for the Legal Services
Corporation, preserving the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, giving
the VA the authority to fund legal services for homeless veterans, and
expanding broadband access to rural America, all of which are impacted in
some way by the current COVID-19 pandemic.

On the schedule, there are blocks of time focusing on each issue -
providing background in different ways and then scheduling a time when
participants can "take action", meaning send an email, make a call or post
social media on that issue. Most of the scheduled discussions will be held
on twitter, but you can use the links on the schedule
<https://www.americanbar.org/advocacy/governmental_legislative_work/grassroo
ts-action-center/ABA_Day_Digital/aba-day-digital-schedule/> to watch them
on your computer. You do not even need a twitter account to listen.

If you do not like the wording of the preformatted messages or
telephone scripts, just cut the language you do not like and add your own.
Personalized messages are more impactful anyway.

If your schedule does not let you participate in everything, no
problem. IF YOU ONLY HAVE TIME FOR ONE THING, go to the schedule
<https://www.americanbar.org/advocacy/governmental_legislative_work/grassroo
ts-action-center/ABA_Day_Digital/aba-day-digital-schedule/> and click on
the call to action links and send that note, post a tweet or make that call.
You do not even have to wait till the scheduled time -- take action whenever
it fits into your schedule on these two days. The important thing is to just
contact the Hill on each of our issues.

Our goal is to flood the halls of Capitol Hill with messages from all of
us collectively, so our Members of Congress hear how important each of these
issues are to the legal community and the people we serve. If you run into
any problems or have questions, email me at holly.cook at americanbar.org
<mailto:holly.cook at americanbar.org> and I will forward your note to the
person best able to help you fix it.

Make sure you tag your social media with #abaday and @abagrassroots so
we can follow what everyone is doing.

Please also use your home address when you register so the messages
prepopulate with the names and phone numbers of YOUR Members of Congress.
