Association Center on Children and the Law is seeking an Associate Director.
The Center's mission is to promote access to justice for children and
families. As part of the preeminent national association of nearly 400,000
lawyers, judges, legal educators, and law students, the American Bar
Association provides the Center a unique platform to accomplish this
mission.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director will possess a vision for, and demonstrated career
commitment to, promoting access to justice for children and families. The
position will partner with the Director to lead and manage the Center. This
includes identifying, establishing and implementing Center priorities,
managing a diverse portfolio of grant projects, supervising a 16-person
team, helping to conceptualize new projects and seek external funding for
continued growth, collaborating with national child welfare organizations
and government entities, supporting ABA-wide initiatives and leadership, and
speaking and writing on substantive legal matters involving children and the
law to expand a national understanding of the child welfare legal field and
how it interfaces with other access to justice initiatives.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

*	Represent the Center at meetings and conferences, and collaborate
with other national, state and local organizations in the child welfare
field, both governmental and non-governmental
*	Supervise grant funded personnel to ensure all projects achieve
objectives, match staffing resources, and advance the Center's mission
*	Support program directors in continuing to create new project
concepts and cultivate funding opportunities within key substantive areas
*	Partner in budget planning and visioning with annual and multi-year
projections and goals
*	Publish articles, deliver substantive presentations, and leverage
social media communication tools to raise awareness of emerging child law
topics across the country
*	Help lead strategic planning for our national access to justice
conferences 
*	Work with ABA members to develop law-related policies and practice
standards, many for consideration by the ABA House of Delegates to become
ABA supported policies
*	Collaborate with ABA Human Resources, Financial Services, and
General Counsel departments as well as substantive entities in ABA sections,
divisions, and commissions

QUALIFICATIONS:

*	A JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar
in at least one jurisdiction
*	Minimum 8 years experience in the children's law field 
*	Significant prior background in a supervisory role 
*	Resource development, budgeting, grant, contracting and financial
management experience
*	Excellent communication skills, through public speaking, writing,
and social media
*	Prior and ongoing commitment to promoting racial justice and
cultural sensitivity in projects, training, and policies.
*	Ability to exercise independent judgment and work well with a
variety of constituencies
