Subject: Help Bar Associations Get Federal Emergency Funds in Next Aid
Package

To: ABA House of Delegates and Entity Chairs

Dear ABA Leader,

We need your help. Congress is continuing to work on economic relief
packages to help ease the burdens on businesses and individuals affected by
the pandemic. In recent bills, Congress has included only limited assistance
for 501(c)(6) organizations, including bar associations, and the relief
offered has high eligibility thresholds that make it unhelpful to us. As
nonprofit organizations with no profit margins to cushion the impact of
recent revenue losses, bar associations need relief too so that we have the
resources and staffing necessary to continue our public service activities
when they are needed most throughout this emergency.

Please join us in urging Congress to add more meaningful relief for
501(c)(6) organizations like the American Bar Association in its next bill.
We need your help to educate Congress on all the critical services and
programs bar associations are doing now to serve the public-providing Free
Legal Answers, managing pro bono services, increasing training to help
advise businesses and individual clients facing unprecedented legal issues,
and many more.

We have set up an easy pre-formatted message
<https://americanbar.quorum.us/campaign/26088/> that you can use to contact
your elected officials by clicking here
<https://americanbar.quorum.us/campaign/26088/> . Log in using your home
address, and the message will automatically be addressed to your
congressional representatives. Specify you are affiliated with the American
Bar Association or your state bar in the first line, and feel free to edit
the language to your situation-

or just send it as is.

Please forward this message to your colleagues who you know will stand for
the organized bar.

Thank you for your help in this effort, and thank you for all you do to help
ensure equal access to justice and to improve our profession.

Judy Perry Martinez, President

American Bar Association
