I took a Kaplan course to prepare for my first LSAT, then had to retake it. I do not believe Kaplan is worth it. The best thing I did was get the Powerscore books and hire a tutor. Like Nandini, this is what I recommend.

Subject: [blindLaw] Kaplan LSAT Prep Course

[EXTERNAL]

Hello everyone. Hope all of you are doing well. My name is Helga and Iam a blind university student. I live in United States Florida. I’m in my senior year, and I will be graduating from my Bachelor degree this upcoming december. I’m planning to betaking a Kaplan LsAT prep course next year to prepare myself for taking the exam next year on September or perhaps on June. How many here are using the Kaplan prep courses to prepare for the LSAT, and is it accessible with JAWS or Voiceover with the Mac?
Response: I did not use Kaplan. I second the recommendation to use the Power Score books. Get all three and complete them. After that, try to complete as many full length exams that LSAC has released under timed conditions.

Just wondering. I heard from others that in prior years Kaplan prep courses of the LsAT was not really accessible with screen readers. This will be my first time taking the exam, so I heard the kaplan was a good tool for preparing for the exam.
Response: Kaplan is not worth using. It is best to work from previously released exams. Most prep courses tend to make up LSAT questions. Previously released exams are the real thing. The Power Score books equip you with the theory and how the LSAT was developed.

However, if you are not using Kaplan, I will also be interested to know what you are using or used to prepare yourself for the exam.
Response: I used Power Score, previous exams, and met with a private tutor a few times.

I will really appreciate any suggestion you guys can provide me. Also, those of you who are thinking of taking the LSAT exam either this year or next year, I will be glad to hear from you in regards of how to prepare for the LSAT when it comes to study and so forth. I read that many recommend to prepare for the exam at least six months or 3 months in advance.
Response: I think I took about a year of serious prep. But I also took it twice, which is fairly common if you want to max your score for law school applications.

I understand there is as well many methods to take the exam, how did you guys take or planning to take the exam? I’m referring taking the exam with a reader, or braille, or taking it with JaWS or Voiceover with Mac.
Response: I prefer using JAWS to review the exam (formatted in Word as a doc or html file), using a reader/scribe to mark the scantron, and then using a Braille note-taker for the logic games.

Personally, I am still debating which method I should use to take the exam. I look forward to hear from you soon. Thanks so much for reading. I apologize for this long email message.
