Dear ABA member,

In normal times, this would be the season for festive law school graduations
and the beginning of bar exam preparation. But these are not normal times.
Members of the Class of 2020 face significant challenges about the bar exam,
the job market, and overwhelming student debt.

During my many visits to law schools, and while working with the impressive
leadership of the ABA
<http://maestro.abanet.org/trk/click?ref=z11aidwdq5_0-406f4x311689bx059812&>
Law Student Division, I have seen the determination and commitment of
today’s law students and graduates. I am certain they will be remembered for
conquering adversity and doing all they could to help those in need fight
adversity as it comes their way.

We, too, must do all we can to help today's law graduates and deploy their
skills as quickly as possible. The ABA
<http://maestro.abanet.org/trk/click?ref=z11aidwdq5_0-406f4x311688ex059812&>
has recommended that if a state's July bar exam is canceled or postponed,
licensing authorities should enact emergency rules to authorize recent law
graduates to practice temporarily under an attorney's direct supervision.
The ABA will soon issue a guide for lawyers on how to provide such direct
supervision, which will be posted on the Law Student Division's

As I've written to you previously, it is up to each one of us to secure the
future of our profession. So please do what you can to support and mentor
the law students and graduates you know. Show or remind them of the ABA's

free CLE webinars for members. Think about asking them for help with project
management, legal research, drafting, editing, or other work under your
direct supervision. Consider giving a law graduate a

gift of ABA membership or inviting them to join you for the
