I would suggest that your family member should consult with his/her HR
department if one exists. Otherwise, consult with an attorney who
specializes in work place injustice.

good luck.

Subject: [blindLaw] veteran protection in Ohio?

Hi everyone,

I received a call yesterday from a family member regarding protections for
veterans. He's been working for a company for ten years and has a spotless
file (all of his performance reviews are outstanding, etc.) He's been
working at the company's location for the past year in Cincinnati, Ohio, and
recently the president of the company came to inspect the location. He said
that it wasn't all that clean and needed to be improved. Also, he complained
about my relative's inability to put a team of managers together (there has
veen 60% turnover at the location.) When the president visited again
recently, he said the cleanliness had improved but it could still do better.
They're putting my relative on a 90-day performance imporvement plan. (My
relative visited another location about an hour away from his location and
it was dirtier than his location. Basically, he works in a warehouse and
moves freight. There's only so much cleaning one can do.)

I should menton that this president has never interacted well with him (it
goes back to a few years ago when the president made a visit to another
location he worked out. My relative came in like he normally would and was
chewed out because he wasn't there to meet him. He told him if he had
knowledge of his visit, he definitely would've been there.)
Needless to say, he feels as if this president has it in for him. In a
situation like this, are there any protection for veterans under Ohio law or
federal laws? The company is a termination-at-will company; however, to have
a spotless record and have this come up seems a little like he is being set
up.

Thanks.

Mike
