Would it be possible to discuss your software project with you off the list?
I have had an idea of my own which I am keen to discuss with an individual
or group who have an understanding of the Braille and the problem.

Jen!

Automating the interpretation of a mixture of contracted braille text and
Nemeth math is very difficult as the context clues, while generally obvious
to a human reader, can be quite subtle. I've spent several years off and on
working on free software to do this and hope one day to finish!

Meanwhile, a currently available solution if you are using a BrailleNote is
to tag the math as computer braille by hand, automatically backtranslate the
text with the built-in backtranslator, and then use the Nemetex software to
automatically convert the embedded math to LaTeX.

You can evaluate Nemetex for free for 30 days.
