Hi Christine,
It is indeed possible to access embedded sound files. However, if memory
serves, the link to the sound file must be tagged. Having said that, I have
encountered all kinds of issues that are not screen reader related using
this approach. It is better to link to the sound file in your presentation.

Subject: [Blindmath] PowerPoint and JFW
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I was wondering if anyone here could either direct me to good sources that
discuss using JFW v. 9 and PowerPoint or could provide me with information
as to how usable it is (e.g., can you access embedded sound files when
presenting with PP...)?
With sincere thanks,
Christine
