By the way, MathDaisy will embed the proper MathML code into the DAISY
XML file, but it also produces an alternate image of the math expression
and an accompanying alternate text description of the math image. The
additional image and alt text are used by less sophisticated DAISY
readers which do not have native MathML support. ReadHere does have
native MathML support, but you may need to change the setting to switch
from reading the recording of synthetic speech which is created in the
Save-as-DAISY process, to reading the DAISY etext directly. I have not
used ReadHere lately, so I don't remember the default setting.

     Thank you for your note. I downloaded the latest version of
MathType. I also downloaded the latest versions of the MathDAisy plugin
ich apparently works with the Save-As DAISY plugin. The MathPlayer
plugin is for Internet Explorer. I observe that the conversion to DAISY
results in an image. I thought I was having troule with my DAISY reader
and needed to the the ReadHere from GH LLC.

Hi,

My understanding is that MathType significantly improved in its
usability for blind users since version 6.5. But if you are able to
convert TeX equations into MathType compatible equations, then 6.0 must
also work (if 6.0 is what you meant).
Another thing to clarify is that when you say "Daisy player plugin", I
assume you mean Save as DAISY plugin by Microsoft.

Now that the first 2 points are out of the way, yes, the best way is
indeed to get TeX equations in Word and then convert them into MathType
compatible objects.
There are 2 ways of typing these equations.
$\lim_{x \to c}f(x)=L$
for inline equations

\[\lim_{x \to c}f(x)=L\]
for new line equations

There is another way of getting a Word document with MathType objects
and that is by using products developed by Infty group.
- Using InftyReader, you can directly OCR a high quality PDF/ Tiff/ a
few other image formats to produce Word 2007 and above.
- Using ChattyInfty, you can type or edit equations and then export the
document as Word 2007 and above.

Of course, you can also insert symbols directly in Word to write
expressions, but a screen reader may not recognize all of them.

Daisy player plugin. My question is what is the best way for a blind
