Daniel,

Whether you can learn Nemeth code on your own depends on you. /smile/ Do
you have a refreshable braille display? I finally got my hands on one a
few months ago and have been cheerfully using it to learn to read
computer braille code from the internet and resources friends have
shared to help me get the symbols memorized. I plan to tackle Nemeth
next in the same way.

If you don't have refreshable braille, you could no doubt find a braille
book to learn... I don't know any good titles, although others probably
will. I stopped my own hunt when I got the refreshable display so I
could just use stuff from the internet. /smile/ BANA has the rules
listed in a couple of formats. Here is there web address that you can
paste into your web browser's address bar:

http://www.brailleauthority.org/

So I have some materials from there in mind for when I get started
learning the Nemeth code. I've learned a lot on this list about how
people use and produce braille in study and work. It's a bit daunting to
me, considering how much learning curve I have left to tackle there, but
I'm pretty excited to learn all that is possible these days for us math
types. /smile/

hth,

Tami
