Hi all --
Thanks for all the comments.
It seems since I posted the initial email last week, everywhere I turn I
hear more about 3-D printing.
One news item this morning was especially amazing, about the use of this
technology in medicine.
Doctors used 3-D printing and CT scans of a baby's heart and lungs to repair
a life-threatening defect. From what I could gather from the report, they
put a powder into the affected area and used the 3-D printer to shoot lasers
into the area to fuse the granules together into a solid support that
strengthened the tissues.
The result was that the infant went home after months in critical condition.
I found this quite amazing. Truely like something out of Star Trek and the
holographic doctor.

I've been out of the loop too long.
Anyway, happy computing.
