Well nobody has stepped forward to answer this question. I do know the
answer either. However the need for Latex does not begin until the child
begins to do algebra, usually in middole or high school. Please go to
www.access2science.com for tutorials on Latex.
If the child is using a PC with MS Word, I strongly recommend using MathType
with LEAN Math. Or with Latex only for the equations.

switch from Nemeth to LaTeX? What are the pre requisites for learning LaTeX?
