[Blindmath] alternative methods of learning college algebra

As did I. Not for algebra and calculus, but I did for accounting, and all
sorts of math relating to financial planning and investment planning. All
of my books were scanned with OCR and edited to fix errors, and I used Word
to write it out. And I second the suggestion to use qualified readers,
particularly on exams. You want to be sure the person can correctly
articulate the information to you, and understand what you say in response,
Since you can't see the material yourself. For my accounting exams in
particular, I always requested an accounting major to read my exams to me,
so I could know that they understood the terminology I was using.
I agree that stopping college to learn braille is not necessary. I had to
leave school for a semester when I lost my sight, and I certainly didn't
want to postpone schooling any longer just so I could learn it. And now 12
years out, I can say that I've gotten along just fine in my financial career
without it. (I do know braille, primarily grade 1, sufficient enough for
labeling and light note taking, but don't know nemeth and did just fine
without it.)
