[Blindmath] vOICe

Hi Alexa,

I do not recommend MathTrax *over* the Orion TI-84+ Talking Graphing
Calculator. MathTrax does give too much information in my opinion. You
enter the equation of a function, and it is like googling it. It gives you
everything you ever wanted to know about that particular graph without
allowing the student to explore and discover various bits of information,
which we teacher-types prefer. Also, gen ed math teachers at the high
school and college level are familiar with the TI-84+ so the student has
the advantage of being able to get one-on-one assistance if needed.

However, it is free, so I think it is still a nice piece of software to
have and explore. There are parts of it that I really like – building a
roller coaster by inserting the right function e.g. f(x) = x*sin(x) and
initial velocity to see if your roller coaster cart will make it to the end
of the ride. It is not self-voiced so you do need a screen reader, but most
individuals already have that.

Susan

Thank you! that makes more sense! Do you recommend mathtrax over the TI 84
calculator? I have acquired and loaned to my student the ti 84, but an
wondering if math trax has pros cons to consider against the ti 84. Thank
you!

It's actually spelled MathTrax. Go to http://prime.jsc.nasa.gov/mathtrax/

I went to mathtracks.org site. I did not find an online graphing Calculator.
A search online for "math tracks graphing calculator" led to links for the
ti-84 calculator, but nothing online resembling a calculator.
Could you share any links that might exists, please? Thank you!
