Lynn,

Just so you know my dissertation is focusing on identifying differences in algebra learning and doing, and I a former geometry. I have ideas and theories, but unfortunately in the research business thats not good enough. Hopefully I will be conducting my data collection next fall and and have some ideas to share by winter. I’m a stalwart about braille being available, but am hoping someone on the list can speak to MathML as it has been a proposed solution for about a decade now it seems.

I am very concerned for my children's future if math is not accessible in audio format that is user friendly. As you dig deeper you will find that everything ever "written" on the subject appears to be in computer scientist language which does not do anything for this mom helping her young children. As one is very interested in Science, also highly inaccessible as often equations and graphs are included, and my other child very proficient in her 7th grade math. So far she has been able to create on brailler but this will increase in difficulty as algebraic and geometrical problems become more involved. You should check out www.afb.org <http://www.afb.org/> Their career connect link will put you in touch with blind professionals willing to speak to their careers and adaptions. I wish you the best of luck. If I can be of assistance to you, let me know. I hope someone can get this issue resolved once and for all. For heavens sake,...there are driverless cars on the road! 😏
