[Blindmath] Is the Nemeth Code also going to be discontinued with the introduction of the UEB?

I answer this question with great trepidation. It is my understanding that other countries like Australia and others use all UEB and the main issue here in the US is that each state is left to choose to keep Nemeth or use the Nemeth UEB combination in their K-12 materials. As of last check there were states on both sides of that decision, so while literary Braille will be unified eventually, mathematics will be problematic.

The Braille Authority of North America decided to continue using the Nemeth Code within a UEB context, and adopted a couple of symbols for entering and exiting Nemeth mode. I don't know what other countries did, but suspect that they use UEB math notation more extensively than is planned for the United States. We will probably learn more about this when the International Council on English Braille meets in the next few months.
