Yes, the basics of markdown are relevant to all variants of markdown.
Please note the files are all present, but that you've clicked on the link as if it would open a webpage, whereas the instruction says to save the file. I'll change the text to be more explicit. These files have an Rmd extension and it is unlikely you'll have that linked to any software at present. Please just use Save Target as (or equivalent) and not treat it as a link.
