Hi Shawn,
I only can say a bit about comparison to desktop version from the
perspective of a lecturer who taught matlab in a university course. In
such environmnet using a tablet version instead of a desktop version
would likely not be acceptable, since, for example, such courses tend
also to aim at teaching some basic programming skills, which would be
very hard on a tablet. Of course this is relevant only if you intend
to use matlab in a unviersity environment.
Generally I was most happy if my students used octave (free clone of
matlab). Not because it's better than matlab, but precisely because I
could be sure that they will not click something in the interface which
will cause matlab to try to be helpful and completely obscure the point
which I wanted to convey.
