Hi, Nicholas.
According to the Nemeth Code, Rule XIV, section 98, you would braille x hat and theta hat as modified expressions. The Nemeth code for hat (caret) is the two-cell symbol (dots 4 5 6, dots 1 2 6). So x hat is:
1. Dot 5 ("I'm going to modify the next expression")
2. x or theta (expression being modified)
3. Dots 1 2 6 (directly-over indicator)
4. Dots 4 5 6, dots 1 2 6 (hat)
5. Dots 1 2 4 5 6 (termination indicator)

I am trying to figure out how to write x hat or theta hat in nemeth code. Basically I am trying to put a hat over a variable to signify that it is an estimate. I have been looking everywhere, but can’t find it. How can it be done in nemeth code?

I get different errors about parentheses or superscripts and subscripts not being closed. My last example is e exponent X sub one end sub plus X sub 2 end sub and so on all in the exponent. I have tried the usual things for superscripts and subscripts, but get similar answers to the errors in the previous example. Are these things I am trying to do possible to do in nemeth code? If so, how would they be done?
