[BlindMath] Geometry in a high school mainstream class

Unfortunately the classes now rely heavily on interactive web based presentations most of which are not accessible. Getting the material in advance only provides about 1/4 of what is likely to be used. There are also videos that are just a nightmare for the blind. I would be delighted if the teachers used ppt presentations, but that seems a thing of the past for the new math curricula.

Is there someway that you can get the teachers lesson plans in advance? I think having the paraprofessional in the math class is a great idea; however, geometry class figures are very into Trickett, and I’m afraid that they can’t be made affectively on the fly when the student needs them in class.

Teachers use a smart board and navigate examples available on the publisher’s website to present lessons and provide further examples. Classroom presentations are very fluid, they change from class to class based upon the questions asked by students and the teachers preference. Keeping this in mind, it is almost impossible to prepare examples of what will be presented to the class ahead of time for the blind students to access in braille during their geometry math class. The students in the geometry courses will have the assistance of a paraprofessional whose responsibility will be to provide the figures and equations as quickly as possible if they are not already available.
