[BlindMath] Nemeth code

Anne-Maria,

The answer depends partly upon how you are going to use what you write. When I was taking math which was a long time ago, I incorporated many shortcuts because I was the only person reading my writing. I might express a complex fraction using parentheses in the numerator and denominator to create the same result as using the complex fraction notation. In my case, the important thing was whether I could understand what was meant.

However, if you are writing Nemeth Code with the idea that you will use a process to generate print from it, whether you go from Nemeth to Latex and then to print or use a process on a note-taker, you will need to follow the rules as closely as possible to have what you write interpreted correctly. Whenever braille is back-translated into print, minor violations of the rules in braille can have a major effect on the print.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Dear all,

In the Nemeth notation, it is announced whether a fraction is simple, complicated etcetera. I think it is very helpful to read this in braille. But what about writing? When you are solving an equation in braille, do you also (have to ) mention that a fraction is simple, complicated etcetera. Does it help you?

Kind regards,

Annemiek
