Hi Bill,

I have to disagree with you that UEB math as compared with Nemeth math is
"more consistent and debatably easier to parse."

As for consistency there are typically at least three different correct ways
and often four to write the same mathematical expression in UEB whereas
there is almost always only one way in Nemeth. As for parsing I'm a
computational scientist and have written parsers for both math systems and
find it undebatable that Nemeth math is easier to parse.

UEB has built-in support for Nemeth math. While it is true that in some
English-speaking countries including England and Australia only UEB math is
in common use because of its greater similarity to the previous math systems
used in those countries that is not true in the US. Also Nemeth math is
used in conjunction with literary braille in other languages as well as
English.

Also automated reverse translators are available for both Nemeth and UEB
math so there is no longer any need for a braille user to translate their
braille math "for sighted consumption."

Sincerely,
Susan J.
