Hi, Everyone!
I am a TVI in Georgia with a question regarding accessing the Desmos Testing Mode app for a student with low vision who has been approved to use this as an accommodation by the College Boards.
My student with low vision was approved by College Board to use the Desmos Test Mode App for the AP Calculus Exam on May 9th
Desmos Test Mode was only designed to work on a Chromebook or an iPad
Accordingly, we received a Chromebook from Assistive Tech to use for this purpose
However, the Chrome store app download was blocked, so we reached out to AT to put it on our app dock through the admin console.
With this, we found out that the configuration for the app would not work with our district configuration, so this no longer became a possibility.
We also tried using an iPad, and found out that the download worked wonderfully and we got the Testing Mode to turn on and work just as it's supposed to
The app controls were not big enough for my student to see, so we couldn't use the iPad or iPad Pro by itself
We tried to connect the iPad to a Smart Monitor with touch control, but were unable to interact with the iPad interface through the board, which made the monitor useless for my student (because she wouldn't be able to see the controls she needed to manipulate from the iPad)
We also tried to get the software onto a Mac, but the app is not configured for Macs and thus couldn't try this either
We also reached out to Desmos to see how to install a District Test Mode version of their app, and they sent us a sample to try out on the Chromebook and this was also unsuccessful.
Does anyone have a similar experience or suggestions on getting this accommodation for a student?
Thank you!
Mary Ann Boger
