[BlindMath] Question SPSS

Hello,

I won't say software is accessible unless it is functionally useful in a range of use cases. I also won't say it is accessible if it only works well with one screen reader. Great to know that one person had a positive experience with SPSS and NVDA though.

Being able to summarise variables and perform a t test is about as basic as one could ever want to do, and TBH, serious researchers don't do all that many t tests anymore, but if statistical software is not accessible enough to fit a multiple regression model then it will be called inaccessible by me.

If I could not use a particular software option to complete the tasks I teach in an introductory level stats course, with over 25 years of experience using screen readers and statistical software, then there is no way I can expect a novice user who is blind to do so on their own. This includes all aspects we require of a 2022 student, including installation of that software. Although we do expect to deal with students whose hardware and other software choices does lead to installation troubles, those troubles are relatively few (about 1% of students). 

So,  I'll stand by my claim that SPSS is not accessible, because it is much less accessible than it needs to be for most blind people needing to use it.

Not correct, SPSS is accessible to certain extend.

Though there are few areas that still have accessiblity issues, at least I was abel to do data cleaning, data summary and data analysis of t-test on my own with nvda.
