On question 1: probably yes. It's a multiple line display designed for document reading, so it should be suitable for reading displayed equations, matrices, tables, etc.
On question 2: you can use any braille translation software for this which supports mathematics and which can create BRF files. The accuracy will depend on the chosen software and on the nature of the source document.
On question 3: it's a book reading device, not a braille display designed to be used with a screen reader interactively - so, to the best of my knowledge, it isn't supported by JAWS and it isn't really designed to be. The Canute isn't supposed to replace your braille display for using a screen reader.
I have used one briefly in a demonstration at the CSUN Conference. Reviews and probably recorded demonstrations should be available on the Web. The refresh rate is fairly slow, but you can read the first few lines of the display while it continues to refresh the remaining lines. It's also somewhat noisy due to the mechanical actuators used. Only six-dot braille is supported. Some diagrams can be represented using six-dot braille cells, but apart from this, there is no graphics capability.

Hello,
I was looking into the Canute 360 and have a few questions about it:
1. Is the Canute 360 a helpful device to have for mathematics?
2. I read that the Canute 360 uses BRF and PEF files input into it. If a file is readable by a screen reader (for example a Microsoft Word or HTML file), is it easy to convert it into those file types?
3. Is the Canute 360 compatible with JAWS?
I'm also interested to hear if anyone has worked with it before and their experience working with it.
Thank you,
Nicholas
