[BlindMath] Latex and VS Code

Sorry,
I have little experience with coding environments.
I use bog standard software like Notepad and my own editor software.

R markdown files are just plain text, so if the chosen editing environment is accessible for something like Python code, then it is probably going to be as useful for R markdown, and LaTeX too for that matter.

The real issue with respect to both Rmd and LaTeX workflows is how well the chosen environment supports processing the source into the desired output format.
I know blind users that use the eclipse IDE, Emacs, and Notepad++. I don't, and at times wonder why others would choose what I found painful experiences. I suspect my pain was mostly unfamiliarity.

When I started out with LaTeX in the late 90s, the editors were pretty awful and so I created batch files to process my documents. I still use them today, albeit with modifications such as brief forays into tools like make.

I built my editor because I had control over what things were given menu items and therefore keyboard shortcuts; the TeX for mathematical symbols I use frequently, and the Greek alphabet for example.

Hi Neils

For LaTeX documents written in LaTeX you might look at
https://apc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmarketplace.visualstudio.com%2Fitems%3FitemName%3DJames-Yu.latex-workshop&data=05%7C01%7Ca.j.godfrey%40massey.ac.nz%7C1bc62aeb0d71493dd1cc08daea94d1ee%7C388728e1bbd0437898dcf8682e644300%7C1%7C0%7C638080222155379759%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=hWnn%2BM9xQX3b1NvpmG9c1kO9w5v94UojGvODdQ8Hho4%3D&reserved=0.

For accessible use of R-markdown Jonathan Godfrey, who participates in this
list, is the expert.

I don't know anything about access to R-markdown via visual studio code.

By the way, I'm sighted and a long time user of LaTeX. I use Emacs, not
visual studio code. Please let me and the others on the list know how you
get on.

with best wishes

Jonathan
