I just finished teaching 150 Blind and low vision adults Python I also just
did a 2 week course on python and pandas with and new accessible graphing
library. We ended up with close to 80 people left in the class at the end
of 4 months. I have a weekend group we meet at 2:30 Eastern and we talk
python, coding, and VS Code. I also teach several students online
voluntarily. Being that I work a full time job I would have to get with
the student and their parents if they are interested in help. With that all
said The student does not need braille. I would say only about 15% of my
last class used braille it is not necessary. I have worked in the coding
arena for over 30 years now. I am a totally Blind Software Engineer and I
only use Braille because of some of the things I code like Brialle blaster
creates braille so I have to be able to check the output. If you want to
join us on Sunday write me off list at kperry at blinksoft.com and I will get
you the info. I don't want to advertise here since this is a math list. All
though now that I have become much more into data science after this data
science course I just taught maybe I could help with that kind of question
here. One great book is "Python Crash Course" I f the student gets it
from bookshare or other means and follows the chapters and exercises they
can learn straight from it. Even though I do have my problems with the
book. VS Cod Eis the best coding editor out right now and works with all
the top languages and AI help mates. I will shut up now and if you need
more info let me know.

Subject: [BlindMath] Newly blind student learning to code using VScode
Hi,
We have a newly blind student using jaws to learn Python with VScode.
Is there a beginner's book or manual for them to learn how use JAWS to code?
Right now, they are frustrated and confused.
They are not very proficient with JAWS.
We would like to help them get started before classes begin.
Thank you,
Anne Carpenter
