Oops, looks like my copy-paste to the list omitted some lines of text so
I'm re-sending again, sorry for the double sending.

Hi everyone, thanks for including me on this list and what interesting
posts already. I'm a retired biologist who still teaches online courses
in Histology and also Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab for students
at the University of Texas at El Paso from my home in Ocean City, NJ.
I've come to the study of tactile graphics for blind students through 3D
printing about five years ago and now focus on designing audio-enriched
tactile templates that can be laid atop an iPad so that when a region or
structure is touched, an audio button on the iPad tells the learner what
they are touching. I publish and present material using both my UTEP
roots but also as work produced by my company - nextgenEmedia. Although I
enjoy showing how study using microscopes and virtual anatomy can be made
more accessible for blind students, I also have published work showing how
poetry can be written and read in 3D space by blind students and also I've
explored how the audio mechanism in talking greeting cards can be embedded
in 3D prints of photos so that when touched, audio describing the photo
can be heard by blind patrons at an art show. I'm open for sharing all
that I do and enjoy collaborative efforts so hope this list can lead to
some fun and productive work.

Mike
