From ACOHEN2 at wcupa.edu Sat Mar 2 15:19:59 2019 From: ACOHEN2 at wcupa.edu (Cohen, Alex H) Date: Sat, 2 Mar 2019 15:19:59 +0000 Subject: [BlindResearch] Assistance Formulating Research Questions Regarding Career Direction Decision Making & It's Relationship To Online Accessibility Message-ID: <9ca5d53d4bf54b58be9e3eaca22ed3ac@wcupa.edu> Hello Everyone, My name is Alex Cohen and I am a marketing professor at West Chester University of PA. I am rapidly losing my remaining sight to RP and have a research focus in online accessibility in the marketplace. For four years I have collected data regarding the accessibility of retail websites including the career landing pages for the top 100 retailers in the U.S. There are a wide variety of categories including department stores, hardware and home improvement, clothing, technology and appliances, restaurants, drug stores, etc. I have secured a grant to research how blind and low vision individuals make decisions about which careers to pursue, and if the accessibility of the online environment including job searching has any relationship to this decision. More specifically, I am interested in blind and low vision employment in business, perhaps in the retailing sector. This includes customer service, management, marketing, accounting, PR, etc. I am just getting started with this, and look to begin with a grounded theory approach using in-depth interviews, then moving into a wider empirical study with a larger population. I would be grateful for any advice, counsel, and suggestions any of you may have. Thank you very much for your kind consideration! Alex Alex H.
