Hello all,

I'm returning to the Summer University event in July; this year it is back in Linz, Austria. I will be running a few workshops that are based on R and a few others that are loosely related. I commend the event as extremely worthwhile if you are studying any subjects where mathematical and statistical content is being used or created. I know there are a number of you on this list who I've met at Summer University before now, and hope to see some of you there again.

It's on from July 8 -12. The program features many interesting workshops for blind science students (introductory and advanced) as well as a "teacher track" specifically geared towards professionals supporting those students. In addition, this event is a great venue for meeting students and professionals from all over the world. More information is available at

On my way to Austria, I will be visiting the University of Turin in northern Italy on July 5th. The plan for this day is not yet finalised, but if anyone wished to come to Turin instead of going to Austria then please write to me off-list at a.j.godfrey at massey.ac.nz<mailto:a.j.godfrey at massey.ac.nz> please.

Finally, and perhaps most notably, I have just secured a substantial amount of funding to help me travel to meet with colleagues interested in working on the BrailleR Project. This means I will be in Ireland and Germany within the next two years, and wherever the next Summer University event will be held. I'll try to keep people posted about my movements so we can meet up somewhere.

Cheers,
Jonathan
