From wardex at jmu.edu Fri Jun 21 13:54:47 2019 From: wardex at jmu.edu (Ward, Elizabeth - wardex) Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2019 13:54:47 +0000 Subject: [BlindRUG] Programming Environment for VI R user Message-ID: Hi All! I am a professor at James Madison University. I have a summer research student who was formerly in one of my stats classes. She is also visually impaired. She's becoming a good programmer and I'm anticipating her needing better tools soon. So far, she's working in R using the terminal, notepad, and writing rmarkdown, which she converts to html. She uses JAWS and has a refreshable braille display. I'm interested in finding her a programming environment that works with her tech and does parentheses matching and autocomplete. Bonus points if you can run lines of code in it. I'm also interested in whether anyone has anything else I should be looking out for or features she might enjoy. As a side note, thanks to my student, I have become very interested in tactile graphics as well as making tools which make R more accessible to the visually impaired. If anyone is interested in working with me, please email me at wardex at jmu.edu. Thanks! E. Ben Ward -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
